• Arlington National Cemetery – Walk among the final resting places of American heroes, from John F. Kennedy’s Eternal Flame to the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Here, we take the time to honor those who sacrificed for the nation.

• Mount Vernon – Visit the estate of George Washington, exploring the mansion, the vast gardens—with their sweeping Potomac River views—and outbuildings where the first president lived. Learn about life in the 18th century and Washington's lasting legacy. 

• Old Town Alexandria – Usually a brief driving tour on the way to Mount Vernon, we can see where Robert E. Lee grew up, where Lee and George Washington went to church, and Washington’s house in town, right up the street from Christ Church.  With more time we can also wander the streets of this well-preserved colonial town. Enjoy time to explore its boutique shops, historical sites, and waterfront views, with plenty of opportunities for photos and local experiences.

• Georgetown – Spend time exploring this historic neighborhood that predates the capital itself from Colonial times.  From its cobblestone streets to upscale boutiques and restaurants, Georgetown offers a blend of history and modern charm.

• National Cathedral – Step inside the magnificent Washington National Cathedral, North America’s second-largest church.  Begun in 1908, it was not completed till 1991, all in the neo-gothic style.   Enjoy a tour of its stunning stained-glass windows, towering architecture, and unique gargoyles that make this one of D.C.’s most impressive sites.  This is also the burial site of the only U.S. President in Washington, DC, Woodrow Wilson. 

• Embassy Row – Take a leisurely drive down Massachusetts Avenue, learning about the history and importance of the embassies that line this prominent street, representing countries from all over the world.

• National Portrait Gallery / Museums – Everyone might like to see the Presidential Portraits once in a lifetime.  These are a separate collection from those in the White House, representing a more artistically adventurous spirit.
